Walt Disney World to test new FastPass+ system

Select Walt Disney World guests will be part of a test for "FastPass+", part of the upcoming NextGen initiative. Disney's new system will allow guests to make reservations for ride times before they even begin their vacation. For the first two weeks in May, select guests staying at Disney resorts will be contacted by Disney detailing how to set up a FastPass+ itinerary. The guests will receive a FastPass device (rumors are that it could be either a card or a wristband) equipped with RFID technology that will be swiped near the attractions. The card readers are already in place at the Magic Kingdom, having been installed over the last week. They have been seen at all current FastPass rides, plus a few other attractions. The guests will use the emailed itinerary to plan their theme park day; the card is only valid for the date(s) in the email. As is the policy with normal FastPasses, guests must return within the return time window indicated on their itinerary.
